The Functional Macromolecular Laboratory at the University of Maryland, College Park, performs research on functional polymers for a variety of technological fields ranging from medicine and pharmaceutics to energy storage and microelectronics. We work in the synthesis and structure-properties characterization of complex polymer architectures, focusing on the determination of their structure function and properties. Present problems of interest include: polymer electrolytes for lithium ion batteries and translational sprayable polymers for medical applications.
This week Adam presented (to a packed room!) his dissertation regarding hemostatic hydrogel microparticles and in situ blow-spun polymer fibers as surgical sealants. He was successful in defending his thesis and will soon be joining the Langer Lab in MIT!
